_Karma Kane Rods
_We at Karma Kane Rods are dedicated to enhancing the experiences of
life, especially time spent outdoors. We know that there are choices
about how and with what we experience God's gift of the natural world.
It is our belief that many of the experiences we all enjoy can be
enhanced by the equipment we use or the perspective we have while using
that equipment. Using rods that are built by hand from naturally grown
materials will change your perspective and enhance your experience with
the natural world.
We are husbands, fathers, educators, and admirers of nature. We are also fisherman, hunters, craftsmen, and just regular guys who prefer to interact with nature in ways that touch us deeply and focus more on the art than the act.
While we enjoy catching fish or taking game with any type of equipment, we find ourselves valuing the experience and connecting with nature at a greater degree when we use equipment created from nature using our own hand. That is the reason for naming our business Karma Kane Rods as we believe that using natural products to interact with the environment surrounding us is a completion of the natural cycle and order of things. It is the belief that good experiences, memories, and perspectives occur as a result of fishing with hand crafted bamboo rods or using items that we designed and built ourselves.
While we are not practicing Buddhists or Hindus, it is hard to disagree with the principle of how one action influences another. Our fishing experiences have been extraordinarily more positive since we began fishing bamboo. It is a feeling and mindset that things fit nicer and make more sense, that friendships become deeper, that time spent outdoors becomes more meaningful, and that the outdoor experience is more rejuvenating when we fish with bamboo rods. We are undecided about if this karma is a result of using bamboo itself, or due to the different attitude the angler embraces when using bamboo rods. Regardless of the cause, the effect is the same. These feelings and experiences are ones that we want to continue until the day we can no longer fish with bamboo.
Our friendship was initiated and has grown stronger through the art of handcrafting bamboo fly rods and using them in our varied piscatorial pursuits on Michigan waters. Our meeting and continued friendship is another example of how our individual focus on nature and natural items have created a "good thing" in both of our lives.
